Important Dates and Deadlines for the Affordable Care Act

Wednesday February 5th, 2020

As the new year is upon us, there are a number of important dates and deadlines to track. The Affordable Care Act has several deadlines to keep track of on your calendar.

In December, the IRS announced that it would extend the deadline for employers to provide employees with their 1095-C or 1095-B reporting forms. This deadline changed from January 31 to March 2, 2020. Additionally, the IRS again extended “good faith effort” transition relief to employers for required reporting under the ACA for plan year 2019. These extensions and relief measures were announced in Notice 2019-63.

Although you have a little more time, you still need to make sure you have your employee forms ready to meet the March 2 deadline, as the IRS will not grant an additional extension beyond that date. The IRS also recommends that employers and coverage providers send the required forms as soon as possible, rather than waiting until the later deadline.

Infinisource Benefit Services offers ACA Print & File service, which is designed to simplify the production and distribution of all the forms required under the ACA. With this service, the data you provide is used to produce hard copies of the 1094 and 1095 forms, as well as e-file the forms with the IRS on behalf of your company.
